Hello! I am posting today to introduce you to a project I have been working on for months:
the launch of a selection of patterns grading from 48 to 56 in PDF format. And I am really, really happy to have been able to successfully complete this new stage of Maison Fauve.
The genesis of the project: I have been receiving requests for a long time about expanding the grading of the patterns, and until now I had not been able to work seriously on the project. The development of Maison Fauve is a second professional activity, and successfully completing my collection launches, tutorials, brand news and everything logistical already takes up a lot of my time. But I sat down and decided to get serious about it. A pattern grading beyond 46 will have modifications that are not a simple widening ratio as is proposed on smaller size patterns. The rules that apply are different, and beyond that I also wanted the patterns to take into account the feedback from my testers. Because to develop this range, I surrounded myself with the pattern maker who takes care of the digitalization and grading of my usual models and especially with many testers (a HUGE THANK YOU to Aline, Laurence, Nadège, Diane, Emilie, Isabelle, Béatrice, Margaux, Thisa and Melaine, their investment in this project and their detailed feedback allowed me to refine each model even more). I develop the patterns by trying them on myself many times, then once the pattern is established and validated I send my toiles and my paper tracing to my pattern maker. Here it is impossible to do this. The patterns already existed, so the styling work was done. But it is the whole adjustment part and especially how the patterns fall that had to be worked on. I really tried to group together the complaints of my testers to get the most suitable and comfortable models. This very important test phase was more complicated than usual because the feedback was really divergent, both within the same size and between the gradations. And it is the synthesis of their opinions, the conclusions that we drew from them with the pattern maker that allows me to offer you today this new little wardrobe ;)
The choice of patterns and format: for the moment it is a small part of my collection that I offer you in this size panel. it is the
VIOLETTE blouse, the
BALMORAL top, the
SABLE jacket, the
GRANITE sweatshirt, the
LEAF dress. I had launched a survey in IG story and several models stood out. I also wanted to work on models that have been available for several seasons and that have
assembly tutorials . And to make this range coherent, I proceeded as for the other collections by considering it as a small wardrobe: a dress that can also be made as a top or a tunic, 2 blouses, 1 sweatshirt and a jacket, that seemed like a good start to me. All the patterns have been completely reworked by the designer and regraded, so the cost is practically identical to that of a new pattern launch, 5 "new models" seemed like a good compromise to me. The PDF format is for the moment a necessity more than a choice, because the financial investment that the pocket represents is not possible for me at the moment. I do not know if my initiative will please you, if my work and the choice of patterns will correspond to the demand of the customers, and having to assume a stock of 5 new references is not currently conceivable. However, I wanted to make the PDF experience more comfortable, so your files will be available in A4, A0 and US letter. But of course, if there is a real demand, and especially from my boutique resellers, I will also happily offer the pouch format. And the idea is the same as for expanding the range to other Maison Fauve patterns ;)
Come on, pleasure for the eyes, here is now the first shooting of this capsule with the superb Aline and her smile that brightens up even the ends of gray days in Paris. I thank with all my heart the beautiful Aline, who in addition to having participated in the test phase lent herself to the game of the photo shoot... she is sublime, isn't she?! Aline navigates between several grading sizes, so she sewed and worked the patterns so that they fit her as she wanted. I am therefore not presenting the models of this session as being a "standard" 56, but Aline's work as a seamstress with my patterns. If for some there was no modification, for others she reworked the armholes because she is outside the size chart, or for Granite and one of Violette's versions she wanted to sew pretty dresses from the sweatshirt and blouse patterns.
A big thank you to my super testers, to Aline for her investment and her good humor, to Cécile who worked a lot with me on the patterns and to my friend Ariane from
Louise's shop who allowed me to do this pretty Parisian shooting in her shop and her neighborhood of Saint Germain. I hope you will like these models and that you will enjoy sewing and wearing this 1st Maison Fauve large size capsule to be found
here in the women's PDF pattern section ! See you soon Emilie
