In the beginning was curiosity...

At Maison Fauve, we like to open our eyes wide to find the details, the little things that aren't. A photograph that moves us, the bold print of a haute couture dress, an object with unique lines, a sound that catches our attention, an exhibition that takes us on a journey, a beautiful book... The magic of feeling the work and world of artists resonate within us.

SHALL WE START NOW?

Our values

Sewing for fun...

Making beautiful fashion patterns, with attention to detail and cut, is our mission. But to make the time you spend with us a real pleasure, we want to accompany you beyond the sewing pattern. Maison Fauve offers you photo and video step-by-steps so that you no longer feel stuck by technical points, and that you dare to get started. To go further in the sewing experience, the tutorial section also offers you mini projects to hack your Maison Fauve patterns and further decline the model's proposal.

Love the beautiful

The precision of a pleated work, the roundness of the line of a shoulder, the audacity of a cut, we do not consider the garment as a product, but as a creation that we will have taken the time to think about, to develop. The sewing pattern plays the role of passing the baton between my inspirations and your creative desires: each detail, each button, each fabric, everything that will make your work a unique creation to love for a long time, with the pride of having sewn it.

To be unique is to be yourself

Sewing your wardrobe is a choice, that of consuming differently. The time you spend choosing your sewing pattern, your precious fabric and making your clothes gives them all their value. Taking the time to adjust it perfectly, taking care of every detail, paying attention to the finishes... You will have a unique piece, because you are unique! The pride of wearing your own couture piece is unparalleled.

Home Inspiration

The horsewoman, the Argentine pampas, the fabulous sun and its thousand rays, the radicalism of the audacious artists of the Russian avant-garde, the aesthetics of the 19th century through the eyes of a writer who describes the customs of her milieu… Each season we work on creative universes that will be the DNA of the collection, and I want to take you with me. With L'Oeil Fauve we will dive together into everything that inspired the universe of the collections.

Our story

In the beginning,
there is the drawing...

The story of Maison Fauve is a bit like starting from the end to go back in time and see the signs that went unnoticed. I was a young girl whose childhood passions were drawing and horses (and drawing thousands of horses). I also loved leafing through the famous La Redoute catalog when it arrived at my grandmother's house and I imagined outfits by combining clothes, scribbling little silhouettes.

Fashion as a side road

And then I grew up. Studying art and drawing, which I was so passionate about, was not an option with the education I had received. So I turned to medicine and passed the entrance exam to become a dental surgeon. Entering the faculty was like a revelation: I met girls who loved fashion, clothes, and trendy brands. I observed their style, more edgy, more polished than mine, and I loved it. From then on, it was from the "Fashion Special" of Vogue and Elle that I drew my sources of inspiration. I combined them endlessly to scribble my silhouettes. With my studies finished, I could now practice a profession that would give me what I had worked so hard for since high school: security and stability.

Sewing as a passion

It was when my second child was born that I finally found some time for myself and started drawing again. What was really decisive was meeting a seamstress who offered a custom-made clothing service based on inspiration and drawings. That's how I discovered the world of sewing. I dove head first into the sewing world on the Internet. Nothing could stop me, I drew silhouettes from magazines, a dream wardrobe, then my first patterns, and from my blog "Dessine-moi un patron" (Draw me a pattern) during the summer of 2015, with the slightly crazy challenge of offering my own collections.

Entrepreneurship as a (r)evolution

It was still just a passion that I was living alongside my work. As soon as the 2015 school year started, I wanted to give it a new face, to make it something that resembled me more. To give this project a chance to exist even if it meant leaving behind my previous job which no longer suited me anyway.

My research on patterns is focused on the search for detail work, the strong piece, the desire for the garment to be the support of a singular look. I thought about what would be in line with this more assertive identity.

Maison Fauve… “The Fauves”, these 19th century artists who wanted to breathe color and spontaneity, reinventing the world with fantasy and audacity. The color fauve too, a play of nuances of warm colors, earth and fire. The name of my brand was obvious, it will be Maison Fauve.

This path traveled,

I owe it to you too, you who follow me in this adventure, you who encourage me, you who inspire me. This Maison Fauve is also yours: your view of my work, and what my patterns become when they pass under your machines, with your fabrics… The palette changes, evolves, metamorphoses! This curiosity, creativity, the taste for beautiful clothing are part of the values of Maison Fauve.

And Maison Fauve is now a score that is played by 4 hands. Julie, who accompanied me during my transition to entrepreneurship, has become my partner. Her trust and involvement are a real strength in growing Maison Fauve.

Know how to read the signs

And I remember the young girl who surprised her grandmother when she told her she was going to study medicine “Oh really, digue? Girl, I thought you would design clothes”… This sentence had no meaning to me at the time because my attraction to fashion was limited to my scribbles from her catalogs. My grandmother did not linger.

She's not here anymore, but I like to think she'd congratulate me with a satisfied little smile and the air of someone who saw it coming if I told her "Grandma, I'm a fashion pattern designer and I'm living my dream!"
