Easy summer dress tutorial, the Niki dress skater version!
Hello hello!
Are you looking for a pretty sewing pattern to sew yourself a blouse, different versions of a dress and with not one but two great video sewing tutorials? You've come to the right place, here's the beautiful Niki !
Niki is a women's sewing pattern that comes in different versions:
- An ultra-quick top to sew thanks to the free video sewing tutorial available here
- A trapeze dress with a pretty cut above the knee and pockets
- A beautiful dress that turns with the variation of the model into a skater dress. It is also this version that now has its easy-to-follow sewing tutorial!
This pattern was part of the fall/winter 2019 " Sew Me Arty " collection. In this collection, I wanted to offer sewing patterns with graphic elements, combined with timeless cuts to give pride of place to small ornaments: the beautiful pleated sleeve with a strap of thestraight coat with a small tailored collar Ray and the stitched pocket entrance, which tilts diagonally for a very modern look of the Loulou cigarette pants .
But let's get back to the star of the day... Niki is a women's clothing pattern that has some very pretty finishes: a dancer's neckline with a nice curve but not too deep, for the skater version, an arc-shaped skirt for a very airy drape and a belt that supports the waist. Not forgetting the Fauve detail, the pretty hollow pleat that embellishes the sleeve.
This fold will be stitched at the top of the sleeve and then you will come at the end of your work to shape the fold at the bottom of the sleeve according to your desires and the width of your forearm. Traces are indicated on your pattern but to be sure to have a comfortable fall I recommend that you try the dress before putting the button on to ensure comfort once the arm is folded and you can very easily reposition the fabric if necessary. We detail the different variations of the fold at the bottom of the sleeve in this new easy-to-follow sewing tutorial ;)
Each version has its own pattern, so the blouse and the trapeze dress have a first construction while the skater dress has a distinct bust and lower part: a real 3 in 1!
Niki's pattern is available in a pocket pattern and in a PDF pattern with layers. It grades from 34 to 56, the pattern pieces do not overlap and the seam allowances are included (1 cm) for an easier, more accessible and enjoyable sewing moment!
I sewed Niki in many fabrics: crepe, cotton, tencel and even jacquards for the trapeze version and depending on whether the fabric is more or less heavy and "stiff", the fold will be expressed differently, sometimes discreet with fluid fabrics and very marked with fabrics that have hold.
I'll let you discover this new video , it completes the tutorial already offered for the pattern of the trapeze blouse/dress , in particular by detailing the assembly of the pockets which is common to all versions.
