Kika and Pilar, like sparkling candies!

Good morning !

After the madness of Madrid that blew at Maison Fauve with La Movida Fauvista , I wanted pastel colors to complete my summer wardrobe. And it's a very girly and refreshing set that I sewed myself: a Kika playsuit and a Pilar jacket in a duo of Studio Walkie Talkie jacquards.

I really like this brand of fabrics. The prints are very original, the quality of the materials is crazy and the jacquards are woven in France (I'll put the link to their site here , it's not a merchant site but you'll discover their work and the collections of this pretty brand).

For my Kika playsuit , I chose to sew the Play Soft Gaufrette jacquard: I love its little name, the color navigates between peach and apricot tones, very soft and really pretty on tanned skin (the fabric is available here at Cousette ).

It’s a fabric that I knew because I had sewn Bélem pants in it this winter, in black and blue tones.

It's a fabric with a bit of a hold but the drape is soft enough and the weight is very suitable for light pants or a dress/playsuit. I think a blouse or top would be very pretty too but keep in mind that it's a cotton jacquard so heavier than a poplin or crepe.

Kika being a model worked with cutouts at the bust, I admit that the large abstract patterns that do not require connections made my task easier ;) And the material allows to make the inlays and the pleats without difficulty because the fabric does not slip at all. As I recommend for the pattern, I ironed with the Vlieseline G785 the bust.

To go with my little one's jumpsuit, what's better than a mermaid jacket?! I set my sights on the magnificent Mirage Boréal jacquard (available here at Rascol ) to sew myself a new Pilar jacket . Pink as a candy with its metallic threads, it's just to die for. The fabric is perfect for Pilar 's pretty back and the pleats in front are not drowned in the pattern (that's what I was a little worried about at first).

I admit that the association is super bold and I will of course be able to wear each piece with other clothes from my wardrobe that are more "sensible" and go with everything. But the power of sewing has struck again, because you can allow yourself all the audacity when you sew your wardrobe ;) And I am sure I will not come across any woman with this crazy tangy outfit.

See you soon!
