We can't resist the charm of a summer Mia dress!
A fresh look at Mia, an easy dress pattern for summer
A Mia summer blouse is good... But a Mia summer dress, for twirling in shimmering fabric, that's the best!
This beauty will be my last summer sewing project, as the Maison Fauve studio's energy is focused on the final preparations for the new collection. However, I couldn't resist making our summer hack into a dress – so flowy and comfortable (and to be honest, I'll be on vacation when you read this, and I absolutely wanted to slip a new handmade item into my luggage).
In this version, Mia is an easy-to-sew dress pattern: no sleeves, no collar, it's a breeze! (The Mia envelope pattern can be found here, and the free pieces to adapt it into a free beginner dress pattern can be downloaded here).
We guide you through this variation with a video sewing tutorial available on our YouTube channel.
The perfect fabric for my sewing project
I chose to sew my summer dress in the "Shade Ochre" Atelier Brunette fabric. It's a very luminous viscose, and the abstract foliage pattern, like light shadows cast through palm fronds, gives it depth. My skin has caught the sun, and the color beautifully highlights my tan. The drape of the fabric is absolutely perfect for Mia, very supple and above all truly comfortable to wear.

Of course, Mia's secret weapon is her stunning back! After the polka dot blouse and the smaller neckline, I'm pulling out all the stops for my dress! The deep cut doesn't allow for wearing a bra this time, at least not a classic one. I'm presenting it here with pretty heeled sandals, but I'm sure that with flat sandals, slipped over a swimsuit, it will be just as incredible.
Mia by day, Mia by night
I like the fact that you can re-accessorize your outfit to enjoy your clothes in all circumstances. And since I've grown fond of inspiration boards with the issues of L'Œil Fauve, I had fun preparing 2 looks around Mia for you: a daytime version, for seaside strolls with feet in the sand, and a more "dressed-up" version with pretty accessories. One dress, 2 vibes... I'm going to love wearing Mia on vacation! And to see my dress in motion, head over to our Instagram @maisonfauve, a lovely reel awaits you ;)
See you soon for a new sewing project that will kick off the back-to-school sewing inspirations.
