DIY: Recycle your scraps, sew a Nomad belt!

Each edition of L'Œil Fauve magazine contains its surprises! Last year, we gave you the beautiful Nomade belt as a gift , which was the continuation of the "Carnet de Voyage" collection .

This free pattern can now be found for quick download in the Free Patterns selection from Maison Fauve .

The Nomade belt pattern was born from the desire to reuse scraps of precious fabrics, including beautiful jacquards and sequined fabrics used in the making of the Ispahan jacket and the Palma top . This perfect reversible accessory will allow you to recycle pretty fabrics too because I imagine that you have kept scraps of favorite fabrics that are waiting for a second life.

The inspirations

Inspired by the wide fabric belts worn by gauchos, Argentinian horsemen, but also by Peruvian or Vietnamese mountain peoples, this piece highlights in each of these cultures the textile know-how, and in particular embroidery, and an attachment to clothing, to attire which is a strong identity marker.

Mix and match! Dare to use colors, patterns and sparkling fabrics

The "Purple Rain" theme inspired me to wear some very purple outfits and I loved the Blush camisole , Bélem shorts and Criollo jacket set that I still find so relevant. The colorful nomad belt gives it a touch of pep and originality.

The softest outfit combined navy blue Bélem pants and a hack of the black Ludmilla top . I also contrasted with a belt made of the fabric that I love with peacock feathers.

For the in-between, I mixed the Bélem tie and die pants and the matching shiny belt for contrast.
