Sewing the Primrose Dress in Lined Acanthe Bleue Lace

The PRIMROSE dress will make you the belle of the ball... Twirling with its paneled skater skirt, it's stunning with an open back, or more modest with a closed back. The dress's neckline is delicately scooped. The front of the bust is gathered, and the back is cinched with elastic slipped into a waistband. The remarkable detail of this pretty sewing pattern: the pleated and twisted cuff, like a signature on your handmade creation (this detail is always offered, whether you choose the buttoned cuff finish, or the simplified buttonless cuff version).

Sewing level : intermediate, the technical points are making the pleated cuff, the tear-resistant placket on the buttoned cuff version, making gathers, and attaching the elastic.

Size

The Primrose pattern ranges from size 34 to 52. The finished garment measurement chart is available in the product photos.

Emilie wears Primrose in size 36.

Supplies

- Fabric in 140 cm width:
34-38: 220 cm
40-44: 230 cm
46-48: 240 cm
50-52: 265 cm
- 6 buttons between 10 and 12 mm for the buttoned cuff version
- 40 cm length of iron-on interfacing for the neckline facing and cuffs. We use G710
- 1 elastic, 2 cm wide, length to be found in the finished garment measurement chart

If you are sewing your dress in a fabric that requires a lining, we recommend using our cotton voile fabric, and the required yardage to line the skirt + front bodice + inner cuffs is 180 cm.

Fabric choice : only woven fabrics. I recommend a fabric with a soft drape, that falls nicely: a twill, a crepe or a viscose poplin, a fine jacquard, a soft and light wool for winter, or even a beautiful lace, fabrics with a weight of 100 to 250g/m2 depending on the desired look.
