The Criollo jacket tutorial!
Hey HOOOO it's time for CRIOLLO's tutorial!
Video tutorials are a real support for less experienced seamstresses, and they are also an opportunity to learn new sewing techniques and finishes that you are not familiar with.
This new tutorial on the Criollo jacket pattern was filmed with this idea in mind: to make this pretty sewing pattern accessible, so that those who are apprehensive about sewing jackets can take the plunge, and with perfect finishes to boot, even without a lining and without an overlocker!
I'll describe how to edge your seams with bias binding, how to make French seams, how to assemble a simple tailored collar, pretty patch pockets... this Criollo is a little gem! And with its useful and decorative belt loops, it's unlike any other.
Sewn here in a very beautiful corduroy from Metermeter, it is perfect for slightly chilly mornings over a little sweater.
Velvet is one of the key materials this winter, especially in bolder colors like this pretty blue, and the addition of my pretty Sézane jewel belt breaks the slightly "rustic" side (which I love by the way, and I also like to wear it without a belt in a blue workman style). It is straight without being loose so not having a belt does not alter its fall, and the pattern provides the piece to sew a fabric belt.
The pretty buttons here are gold (bling bling one day bling bling always ;) ) but in horn or wood it would not be bad either. They come from the small haberdashery near the workshop I do not have a link to give you, but you will easily find an equivalent (they are 22 mm)
The Criollo pattern is available in a pretty pouch HERE and in pdf HERE
Good video and good sewing to all!
