Niki the pretty folds, the video tutorial!

Hello! There are patterns that truly capture your heart, and I feel like this design particularly speaks to you. The lovely Niki is one of them :) This pattern is part of the SEW ME ARTY collection, and I designed it as a wardrobe staple for fall and winter: the option to sew a blouse, an A-line dress, and a skater dress, in fabrics as diverse as viscose or jacquard... I really wanted Niki to be a celebration! The different versions of the pattern all share THE detail that adds a twist: the origami-style sleeve fold. In itself, sewing the pattern presents no major difficulty: no zippers or buttons, a fitted line emphasized by darts and a belt for the skater version. It's this beautiful sleeve that is the special step, and I want to perfectly detail this step so that your Niki turns out wonderfully! The video tutorial is a perfect format to show the folding movement! While Niki is a pattern from a past collection, the blouse or dress version sewn in a light fabric makes it a perfect companion for spring and summer if it's a bit cooler. Its neckline is open and it is unlined. The pattern is only available as a lovely physical pattern HERE. I chose to sew the blouse, and in a fabric with very delicate embroidered details from Meet Milk, offered by the haberdashery Meter Meter. Its flamboyant color caught my eye, and I'm always a big fan of this type of fabric that I call "faux solids": Atelier Brunette's Dobby fabric with its plumetis, or the cotton viscose with its delicate gold diamonds from Eglantine et Zoé, all fall into this category for me. This fabric is very pleasant to wear and to sew, it's so soft!
