Sewing tips for Lunares poplin

This fabric is very pleasant to sew:

  • It doesn't slip excessively and will pin easily. It irons very well , ideal for working on pleat or dart details.

  • The print does not require lining on dark backgrounds, while the ecru versions can be lined if preferred. On the garments we are presenting, the Cicadella dress and the Highland skirt are lined in the same fabric as the main fabric, the fact that the dots of the lining are slightly transparent adds to the visual effect of the dots. The Salto top is not lined.

  • It frays moderately, so plan on overlocking or French seams for a beautiful finish. However, it is not necessary to overlock your pattern pieces before sewing.

  • For maintenance, wash at 30° delicate cycle, preferably inside out, without tumble drying, and iron at medium temperature (150° max) .

Recommended needles and haberdashery

  • Microtex machine needles for delicate textiles/silk for sewing without damaging the fiber.

  • To stabilize certain areas, a light iron-on adhesive such as Vlieseline G710 (for cuffs, collars and button plackets) or G785 (on areas that require very light reinforcement) is recommended.

Finishes and matching haberdashery for each color:

A fabric that enhances your creativity

The creation of the Lunares pattern was done thoughtfully to offer you great versatility of use: the diameter of the dots is 1 cm , and their "random" distribution offers a very harmonious result on dresses or long skirts.
This pattern size is the most flattering , and allows you to wear your polka dot creations in small touches or all over.

The colors have also been chosen to combine easily with each other as well as with your other clothes.

Ink blue and ecru are timeless pieces that you'll love wearing in both winter and summer. Classic and elegant, they'll look great paired with off-white like the Mystic Rose jacquard , while they'll be easy to wear on a daily basis with blue denim. And they'll pop with bold reds like our Tango red tencel satin.

Mocha is a very soft candied brown, beautiful on tanned skin but also very beautiful combined with beige, rosewood, almond green or a deeper brown in between seasons. These patterns will perfectly accompany all your sewing desires, from the most classic to the most daring.
