This is not a tuxedo... But Viper is playing with conventions!
The Vipère jumpsuit is one of the key pieces in the Fauvae Botanica collection . Its cut is slightly fitted, and it is full of pretty details that define the look: the shoulder tabs that extend onto the top of the sleeve, the dart that starts from the neckline, the buttoning at the front, the pleat details at the back, the redesigned line of the Italian pockets and the belt placed on the hips.
Although we presented it to you in a "day" version sewn in our cotton satin fabrics at the launch of the collection, I already had in mind an "evening" version, more dressed up, like a revisited tuxedo.
The advantage of jumpsuits is that your outfit is created instantly. As soon as you put them on, the look is set.
For my "big night" inspiration, I chose to completely play the game of the reinterpreted men's suit. The men's suit is the ultimate weapon in the wardrobe, especially when you make it your own to have more fun with it: I slipped a white blouse under Vipère, and the blazer jacket effect that opens onto a shirt works really well. I like this falsely nonchalant, slightly tomboyish way of wearing these two very dressy pieces: rolled-up sleeves of the jumpsuit that reveal the cuffs of the blouse, unbuttoned bust to really highlight the garment underneath, trouser bottoms marked by a hem done a bit hastily.
The immaculate Soliflore blouse , with its dramatic, large collar, adds a more "strict" touch. The silhouette works; the trompe l'oeil is perfect!
How to wear the Viper jumpsuit like a tuxedo?
The very essence of this outfit being to play on the masculine/feminine contrast, I put the emphasis on jewelry and makeup: maxi gold earrings, a very red lipstick, and a very "pretty lady" retro hairstyle. For the shoes, I go for the boyish note by wearing flat two-tone leather loafers that are a bit heavy, like an echo of the outfit.

The importance of choosing materials
To sew Vipère and Soliflore, I chose 2 fabrics from our Clair Obscur capsule : the heavy black Onyx viscose twill and the light white viscose jacquard . These 2 materials, which I present to you in detail in the podcast dedicated to this mini collection .
Heavy viscose is a fabric that I recommend for jackets, blazers and dress pants . So, in my desire to divert the Viper jumpsuit, it was the perfect choice. The fabric is supple, but be careful, its lack of elasticity means that you will have to follow the pattern's instructions carefully when choosing the size, and this time if you are between 2 sizes I recommend you choose the smaller one, and make a toile in a fabric without elasticity .
For the Soliflore blouse, the white, textured fabric transforms it into a precious and very elegant blouse.
And of course, the devil is in the details, so I chose some beautiful buttons to add the finishing touch to my outfit.
Viper is a pattern that allows you to sew a jumpsuit and a pretty dress. It is an advanced sewing pattern, and includes the following technical points:
-
Sew a dart
-
Assemble pieces in a sheath
-
Sew an Italian pocket with a nice design
-
Sew a polo-style button placket
-
Sew a belt with pretty interior finishes
-
Sew a tear-proof slit and attach a cuff
-
Roll up sleeves
Don't panic, a 1-hour video tutorial will guide you through these key sewing steps for both the jumpsuit and dress versions.
This new version further enriches the way you can wear Viper. It would also look great in a little black Onyx dress ;)

Bonjour,
