Niki twirls in my Winter Garden

If you are subscribed to our newsletter, or if you follow us on social networks, you know that with Julie we have great projects for Maison Fauve. And because the Maison Fauve adventure grows and flourishes with you, we have put online a questionnaire to better understand your expectations, and know how to progress further. I put you the link, if you want to tell us your impressions on Maison Fauve, your desires, and "spoiler alert" a little surprise awaits you if you validate your questionnaire :)

For this first post of 2021 I am delighted to reveal my first sewing project of the year, a little dress that makes you smile and want to dance rather than walk....
When Atelier Brunette presented its new collection , it was this very pretty Petal pattern that made me fall in love. It is a cotton gauze fabric, softer and finer than a double gauze, which makes it very easy to sew and really pleasant to wear. The project of sewing a Niki dress in it was decided before I received it, and when I touched it and handled it I knew that I had chosen well: the drape is less soft than with a viscose crepe, and that was what I wanted to sew this new version because the drape of the skater skirt is accentuated but without giving it exaggerated volume. I chose the petal night color, and its small repeated patterns in dark tones on a pale pink background have an abstract effect that is similar to a coat on a large piece like a dress... yes yes I see graou everywhere I know hihihi ;)
We went back with Julie to take pictures at the very pretty place where we had done the shooting of the Sonia dress and some of the party outfits published in the new issue of L'Oeil Fauve , the Grammont estate at the gates of Montpellier. And what a joy to find such beautiful light for our photos!
A perfect winter light, for a windless but still very cool day. So who says winter outfit says pretty coat, because a light dress, without tights, and in small heeled shoes does not keep you very warm even if you sketch a few dance steps :) So I accessorized all this with the Ray coat that I had sewn on the occasion of the filming of the sewing video tutorial of the pattern . The wool comes from Pretty Mercerie . And if I had a doubt about the association between the small squares of the coat and the patterns of the dress, the reminders of light tones between the 2 fabrics works well!
The Niki dress pattern is available in envelope format, and it is sized from 34 to 56. It also allows you to sew a trapeze dress and a blouse.
The Ray coat is also available in a clutch and from 34 to 56.
And you, what will you be sewing to celebrate this new year?
Have a nice day!
