La Movida Fauvista: the lookbook!

This summer, we want to push the tables, make fun of everything, and feel beautiful, period. Raw energy, a desire for warmth—welcome to LA MOVIDA FAUVISTA!

The heroines of In the Mood for Fauve have acclimatized to the southern sun, this time we are no longer in the contemplative drama: things have to move, they have to laugh!

I wanted raw, bold colors, devilishly feminine pieces, for a heroine straight out of an Almodóvar film. She's assertive, she's whole. It's no longer about nuance. The designs in this new collection reveal you; they demonstrate an assertive femininity.

La Movida is a powerful creative movement that emerged in Madrid, Spain, in the 1980s. Its aim was to definitively put the dark and painful Franco era behind them and to express themselves in the tradition of Anglo-Saxon punk movements, with a taste for subversion. Then this movement invaded pop culture. One artist whose work left a lasting impression on me is photographer Ouka Leele. For me, these photos are the essence of this Movida: there's color, surrealism, energy—it's very powerful.

Pedro Almodovar embodies all of this in his films: excess of feelings, saturated colors, strong characters, the heroines are women who laugh out loud, who speak with their hands, who love and who cry and who scream... Life, in other words!

It is out of love for Almodovar's cinema that I immersed myself in this strong and raw theme, this full energy. I love his cinema, the female characters he writes and the evolution that emerges over the years. But the common point I find in all of this is the obvious sisterhood between "Pedro's women" and also the love he has for them. They are so powerful and at the same time so true in their feelings. There is both burlesque and intimacy. I think if I had to choose one it would be Volver. I love everything in this film: what it says about Spain, its hyper aestheticism, this slightly detective story... And the divine Penelope who steals the show.

As you will have understood, at Maison Fauve this summer we want joy, exuberance, we want to be able to express ourselves in excess, so make way for color, for hoop earrings that dance in our ears, for colorful dresses that twirl, for devastating bustiers. A summer wardrobe that sparkles, that stands out and yet will be in the air for a long time because feeling beautiful and strong does not have to be a fashionable attitude ;)

I hope you enjoy discovering this lookbook , and see you on Thursday, March 17th for the launch of the new collection!
