The new METROPOLIS Couture box!
There are projects that we cherish, that grow little by little, so as to leave nothing to chance. Metropolis is one of those and it embodies everything that I love and that I want to offer you with Maison Fauve… Suffice it to say that when it comes to unveiling our new sewing box , the excitement is at its peak in the workshop as the work around this pretty ready-to-sew jacket has galvanized the whole team!
So let me introduce you to the new addition to the Empire State Of Fauve collection .
A very couture inspiration
The iconic little black jacket is at the heart of my work around Metropolis. I am lucky enough to own two beautiful vintage pieces: a short Chanel jacket in a fine wool and a collarless Gucci jacket also in fine wool and silk, with a perfect cut. This is the spirit I wanted to offer with Metropolis: a sharp line, in a light and comfortable fabric but of exceptional quality.
The other key point for me was the buttoning. I really wanted a buttoning that "stands out," buttons that you wear like jewelry. A clever mix...
And there was no question of falling into the easy trap of the collarless jacket. I wanted it to be unlike any other, while still giving the impression that it would be the perfect pivot of the Fauve Woman's wardrobe.
The cut is not tight, the shoulder is supported and emphasized by epaulettes, the length is precise, below the belt, flush with the small hips. The construction lines are modern, more impactful, thanks to its play of bands which subtly embellish the bust because there is no question of getting tired of Metropolis!
The elegance of black, the luxury of the material
When I started working on this new sewing box , I promised myself that I would offer a beautiful piece with high-end fabrics and haberdashery items, a sewing project that offers seamstresses the opportunity to make an exceptional garment.
I was looking for a fabric whose material plays with the depth of black, which has flexibility and hold, which alternates mattness and light. My research led me to a virgin wool called "grain de poudre". Grain de poudre or barathea is a luxurious material produced from a finely combed virgin wool yarn, woven in several weaves. Its face is subtly satiny and its reverse is matte. We find this fabric in the clothing of very high-end brands: Saint Laurent, Dior, Barbara Bui, Alexander McQueen, this fabric is not limited to tuxedos and luxury tailoring, it is also investing in the feminine wardrobe.
In our Metropolis couture box, we offer you a deep black 100% virgin wool grain de poudre fabric and a 100% viscose satin twill lining in beetle green , both woven in Italy and sourced from a dormant stock of the LVMH group. Twelve light gold metal jewel buttons made in France will dress up your jacket for a very "couture" look.

A very couture piece to love every day
It's no coincidence that the little black jacket has become a cult classic: it goes with everything and complements so many styles. And Metropolis is no exception; it fits in with whatever your fashion mood of the day:
- We keep the masculine/feminine Empire State Of Fauve spirit and we wear Metropolis on a pretty Blush camisole and with palazzo pants ( our Smoking grain de poudre fabric is a perfect choice with our Brooklyn pants ).
- Paired with a striped sweater, over distressed jeans for a truly irresistible Parisian look...
- It's the woman who wears the jacket, not the jacket, that defines the woman. And when Vanina dons Metropolis, she brings an extra touch of nonchalance and elegance that's all her own!
- Metropolis without a band loses none of its charm, its double gold trompe l'oeil buttoning takes over for a very classic/chic/pretty lady look worn by Julie in Loulou pants .
Luxury at your fingertips, that's the challenge of our Metropolis couture box
