I'm sewing my bohemian and folk dress!
Bohemian fashion, with its romantic and relaxed allure, continues to inspire designers for summer 2025. A flood of boho chic beauty at Chloé, romantic and folk charm of the Zimmerman collection, lace and sheer effects are the common thread of this universe.

Let's explore this trend, as delightful as it is fun to twist, with the dress version of the Hespéride pattern .
I sew my lace dress
In a previous article in the Maison Fauve newspaper , I detailed how to transform (very easily!) the Hespéride blouse pattern into a dress. This new version of the pattern is perfectly suited to the bohemian style: its flowing cut, its pretty gathers in the back and its charming neckline. The buttoned and more refined front drapes nicely, for a comfortable and nonchalant look.
For my bohemian inspiration, I sewed a new version of Hespéride in our beautiful Alhambra lace . This fabric was an obvious choice for this silhouette: airy, openwork, with a fabulous drape, it is THE perfect lace for a beautiful summer dress.
But the openwork being marked, it was necessary to line the dress : for this I chose the white cotton voile . Breathable and very light, it is the perfect fabric for sewing Hespéride. The top of the bust front and back being already lined (it is provided in the pattern) I simply cut the bottom of the bust front and back pieces in my veil. For the assembly, it follows exactly the range indicated in the pattern. I simply joined with the assembly each front and each back with its lining by a seam 0.5 cm from the edge. Then I proceeded as indicated in the tutorial.
Be careful, in this lace I advise you not to iron-on the pieces , the heat will be transparent and it will not be pretty.
For lining fabric consumption:
-
From 34 to 48, the consumption will be roughly the same as what is recommended for the main fabric due to the placement of the pieces. Although the sleeve is not lined, you will not be able to subtract its height in terms of fabric consumption because there are many pieces in the fold.
-
Starting with size 50, you'll gain about 60 cm in the amount of lining you need to order. Don't hesitate to consult the cutting plans in your brochure, and those provided in the article dedicated to the Hespéride dress version.
The Hespéride bohemian dress looks
Why explore just one look when you can play with accessories and vary your inspirations?!
Here are 3 ideas for lace dress looks:
-
Bohemian Freedom: Here, we take the first degree of the outfit, with wooden-soled sandals, pretty jewelry (like these lovely Elise Tsikis floral earrings) and hair blowing in the wind. The white lace dress will be the star, and you'll have the opportunity to twirl around without restraint in your hand-sewn dress.
-
Boyish bohemian : keep your dress and pair it with the Mimosa blazer in navy dupion. The jacket's soft look pairs perfectly with the dress. I'm wearing my beautiful Bags & Pieces handbag; its cognac leather and beautiful chain perfectly match the mood of the outfit. Low-top cowboy boots from La Botte Gardiane and a cap complete this look inspired by the Wild West trend.
-
Boho Chic : The outfit continues to evolve. Cinch your jacket with a chic buckle belt, add beautiful studded leather sandals, and a gorgeous silk scarf. Bohemian, yes, but with elegance!
The bohemian trend for summer 2025 celebrates freedom, femininity, and a return to natural materials, offering a fashion that's both timeless and resolutely modern. The same outfit can evolve over time, and your silhouette will be transformed. Head to Instagram to discover these three outfits in video.
