Footage required
👉 For a width of 140 cm, including the flowers:

Sizes 34 to 46: 1.50 m
-
Sizes 48 to 56: 2m
Sewing tip: allow an extra 10cm if your fabric has a direction or a placed pattern.
Essential supplies
To make the jacket version of the Niki hack, here is the sewing checklist:
-
The Niki pattern envelope
-
A piece of fabric
-
Matching thread
-
Fusible interfacing suitable for your fabric (here Vlieseline G710)
-
4 snap fasteners, 21 mm (for the version with sewn-on flowers, for example) or 4 buttons of approximately 20 mm for a classic buttoned jacket
-
The hack is designed as a button-down vest-style top, without a lining. There are no plans to offer a lined version of this design.
What fabrics should I choose for this hack?
This hack works particularly well with fabrics that have some body , without being too stiff.
Recommended fabrics:
-
medium weight jacquard
-
Light to medium denim
-
Gabardine
-
Tailored woolens
-
Medium weight tweed
To avoid: fabrics that are too fluid (viscose, thin crepe) which will not give the desired jacket effect.
The trompe-l'œil flower buds: the detail that changes everything
The key feature of this version is the hand-sewn flower buttons , which replace classic buttons while maintaining a practical closure thanks to the snaps.
They are made using the latest “sewn flower” tutorial from Maison Fauve with an adaptation related to the choice of fabric: the strip used to make the petals will be 4 x 60 cm and will not be folded in half. The free edge of the strip is finished neatly with a rolled hem stitch.
Allow 10 cm of fabric if you wish to sew 4 flowers.
The flowers are then attached by hand with stitches, for a purely decorative effect.

The Mystic Rose jacquard: the star fabric of the jacket 💗
The jacket shown in the photo is sewn in the sublime Mystic Rose jacquard . A tone-on-tone textured patterned fabric, both elegant and assertive, which perfectly highlights the lines of the revisited Niki pattern, especially the signature pleated sleeve .
✨ Why we love it:
-
Excellent fit for a jacket
-
The design was carefully crafted without being overdone.
-
Ultra-bright cloud white color
This is the ideal fabric to make this hack a statement piece in your handmade wardrobe.
