Our 4 looks in Highland ruffled skirts

The Highland skirt is a must-have this summer, a sweet treat to wear with pride.  Easy to adopt in a short version with 2 frills, the long version seduces with its precisely worked volumes which slim the silhouette and the soft and airy line of the frills cut in an arc. The secret of its cut : the play of variable length of the frills, with the last frill much longer than the others.

Recommended fabric choices for the Highland pattern

We have presented it to you in many fabrics: in Reflet tencel satin , in technical fabric , but also in Lunares polka dot poplin in our latest La Flamenca capsule .

Viscose poplin is very supple, quite light, and irons easily: these qualities make it an ideal fabric for the Highland pattern . The hems are done on a rounded edge, the ability to brand them with an iron is a real plus. Poplin allows for a very light look, with ruffles that weigh down nicely.

But fabrics with more hold are also recommended for the pattern, such as dupion or technical fabric . The ruffles will have a less flexible drape, which is also very interesting. And you don't have to worry about an overly voluminous or "puffy" effect, because the model has no gathers. The position of the ruffles is also judiciously placed so as not to accentuate the hips.

To honor our beautiful pattern this summer, I set my sights on our Abstract Rose printed viscose poplin , a bold and vibrant pattern, and I've created 4 look ideas to adopt this strong piece. From the most casual to the most daring, let yourself be seduced by our looks in printed Highland skirts!

4 ideas for a long skirt look with a floral ruffle

BOHEMIAN CHIC IN THE CITY

A pretty Blush camisole in dupion and a straw hat , perfect for hot summer days, give a worked nonchalance to this look. Clog-style sandals (a summer HIT) and a beautiful leather tote bag elevate the ensemble, for a stroll in town without the risk of looking like you've just come back from the beach.

A MIDSUMER EVENING'S DREAM

For this look, it's all about sophistication: black cat-eye sunglasses, a very feminine white embroidered Poésie viscose jacquard Blush camisole , and a short Métropolis jacket in black tailored wool. An elegant outfit, as beautiful for a wedding as it is for a romantic restaurant. Beautiful heels with a little twist (here, asymmetry) and a designer vintage handbag , your accessories set the tone ;)

COOL KID ATTITUDE

A funkier, more relaxed look for those who don't take themselves too seriously. The Rafale windbreaker in light denim can be replaced with a slightly oversized knotted tee , the skate shoes are comfortable and ultimately rather understated, and the cap (choose with or without a logo) brings just the right amount of cool attitude to this outfit.

WILD WILD WEST

Here the look is totally show off: a felt hat , a pair of cowboy boots , a studded belt and a Skyline shirt in light denim, I deliberately overplayed the " cowboy Carter " style hihihi. But it's not necessary to accumulate all the accessories to infuse the look with a very Wild West note. The key piece (after the Highland skirt of course): cowboy boots, to choose very first degree and rather in leather than suede (more fragile although very pretty).

The printed Highland skirt is much more versatile and easy to adopt than it seems. While the simplicity of the solid color suits it well, I loved having fun with our print of the season, to play on the dancing, almost hypnotic ruffles in Abstract Rose. Will you succumb to the charm of this pretty pattern, which offers you 2 variations, for a unique hand-sewn wardrobe? I can't wait to discover your versions!
