Hello! It's so hot that showing off your legs is almost a must... and what better than a cute pair of dungarees to be comfortable! With its shoulder ties, fully lined bodice, and slanted buttoning, Sailor is the cutest pair of dungarees, and the short version makes it a summer-beach-aperitif friendly pattern ;) The pattern has been part of the Maison Fauve collection for several seasons (it belongs to the SEW ME TENDER collection) and it remains one of your favorites... so no more excuses not to film the video tutorial for the pretty SAILOR short dungarees :) The pattern already has a photo step-by-step available in the tutorial section of the website for the pants version HERE I bought this pretty jacquard last week during a quick trip to Mondial Tissus... you know, those supposedly lightning-fast trips where you tell yourself you're just going for 2 zippers and some thread... and you come home with armfuls of fabric, hehehe! It was the end of a roll, the color was gorgeous, in other words, it was a love-at-first-sight purchase. I hesitated between sewing a SABLE jacket or the pretty SAILOR... the current temperatures decided for me. I have several pretty versions of Sailor in my wardrobe, including an ultra-cute tweed short dungarees that's not suitable for summer. This jacquard fabric has body, which means the pleats of the shorts and the lapels are well highlighted. This sewing pattern can also be sewn in denim, chino fabric, or cotton satin. I'm putting the link to the fabric HERE (be careful, this fabric frays very easily, so make sure you have a serger on hand). Underneath my Sailor, I slipped on my new favorite, the Blush camisole. Under the scorching sun, it's a perfect combo. For the photoshoot, I wanted a dressed-up outfit: a bit of heavy makeup, high heels, a precious bag, and statement jewelry. But a white t-shirt or even a denim shirt will also be perfect with my dungarees. The fabric is very busy; despite its dark colors, it's a bit satiny, and toning it down by shifting the outfit to a cooler touch is an option I will certainly choose. Right now, are you more "dressed to the nines even in summer" or "vacation, I forget everything, ditch the heels"? It's a quick model to sew (especially if your fabric has a bit of stretch, as you can put it on without a zipper ;)).
