Sewing pattern tutorial: How to make the Dandelion jacket?

The Dandelion jacket is a timeless piece with a twist of pretty details:

  • The back is supported by 2 pleats for a nice drape.

  • A belt with a raised back with biker influences

  • The choice between 3 pocket finishes

  • A pretty collar that hugs the neck

  • A buttoned finish less sporty than a zip

  • Perfect volume and length, for a comfortable fit without being too casual.

This is a pattern that we have classified as intermediate level because it includes different assembly steps that require attention to detail, without however addressing complex techniques.

The technical points are as follows and they are fully described in this step-by-step sewing video (which also guides you through each sewing step):

  • Sewing pleats

  • Sew each pocket option (piped pocket, trompe l'oeil flap pocket, kangaroo pocket)

  • Sew a simple button placket

  • Put on sleeves

  • Assemble the jacket and the lining (assembly is designed to be simple)

  • Assemble a collar and collar icing for a perfect fit

  • Sew a belt

Happy sewing!
