How to sew the Metropolis jacket without lining?

Neither quite the same nor quite another, the Metropolis jacket is back in a new light!

Perfect in its very elegant black version, it knows how to renew itself and it is in Atelier Brunette x Studio Walkie Talkie jacquard that I am happy to present it to you today with a mini sewing tutorial as a bonus.

The Metropolis jacquard jacket

This new version features all the hallmarks that make the model's signature: the bands that highlight the bust, the trompe l'oeil double buttoning, the straight cut. The presence of numerous patterns on the Atelier Brunette jacquard does not at all hinder the identity of the pattern.

With its lurex details, this pretty fabric (it's the Pinnacle Basil reference ) is perfect for sewing the model, and giving it a completely different look! Worn over jeans, this Metropolis no longer echoes the timeless "little black jacket". It's a completely different reading that is done, more bohemian, and also perhaps a different approach to clothing: we move away from the chic blazer and lean towards the jacket.

Sew the Metropolis jacket without lining

I took advantage of sewing this version to present you an alternative to the sewing pattern, and sew Metropolis without lining. The finishes of the seams of the bust are done with an overlocker, and I chose to put a bias also branded Atelier Brunette which braids the edge of the pieces only on the facing, the bottom of the sleeves and the bottom of the jacket.

The other point that will change compared to the lined Metropolis jacket is the absence of shoulder pads/sleeve head cigarette. The hold of the jacquard and its weight mean that it does not disrupt the cut or fall of the garment, but if you choose to sew a fabric that could be softer and without lining, you can add shoulder pads by taking the care to create a small cover in a thin fabric such as viscose or lining, the template of which you create with your shoulder pads.

Since the assembly of the garment is absolutely the same, this new video tutorial does not go back over the assembly of the bust and the assembly of the sleeves. We show you the braided areas, and the particular finish of the bottom of the jacket, which follows a sewing order leading you to a positioning of the fabric equivalent to what is obtained by placing a lining.

I hope you enjoy discovering this mini tutorial , which complements the 2 other videos already available on the subject of Metropolis. I am sure that your coupon cupboard will take a fresh look at our pretty pattern!
