Valentine's Day: the elegance of hand-sewn pajamas

Homewear is the art of being comfortable without sacrificing elegance. Clothes designed for the softness of everyday life, where simple lines are combined with delicate materials. It's an intimate and warm fashion, perfect for moments of calm and relaxation .

That's why I wanted to add pieces to the Maison Fauve wardrobe that you can also wear at home, sewing to love day and night. Pretty clothes to feel beautiful in all circumstances. The upcoming arrival of Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to reveal a lovely new addition: a new sewing box for sweet, hand-sewn nights!

I love pajamas, and I don't know why I waited so long to create one for Maison Fauve. We already offered the Blush camisole/nightie (initially designed as an alternative to slip under clothes that weren't easy to line), then the Songe shorts, the perfect companion to Blush for a nighttime set. But I needed real pajamas: a pretty blouse, well-cut pants, a model that had style and that reflected a desire for comfort and timelessness.

Valentine's Day Couture Boxes

These are two sewing boxes featuring our beautiful Lily viscose jacquards. This fabric is as beautiful as it is comfortable; viscose is breathable, and the jacquard weave adds just the right amount of sophistication to make your pajamas irresistible!

Soupir, Blush, Songe, these patterns are timeless, and each piece taken separately combines nicely with the others: a camisole/pants duo, a pretty blouse worn with shorts... There's bound to be a Maison Fauve pajama set that suits you!

A Brand New Boss

The Soupir pajamas feature a pretty blouse with a scooped V-neckline, pretty ties to close the neckline, a slit at the bottom of the blouse for ease and the pleasure of pretty finishes. The pants have an elastic waistband in the back (for comfort) and the front waistband is flat (this is a more flattering finish).

Soupir is a very accessible model, and of course a step-by-step video awaits you for an easy sewing moment.

FAQ: Your Questions about "The Essentials"

To showcase our new arrivals, we organized a photoshoot in a magnificent location: the Horizon Resort. What could be more delightful than a beautiful ensemble that you can wear without blushing, whether in your room or while strolling the halls?

This photoshoot illustrates my idea of the Fauve Woman's homewear wardrobe. I had fun mixing not only patterns but also materials, thus presenting you with several pattern/fabric combinations. In order to answer all your questions, and so that you can find all the necessary information, I have concocted a special FAQ around our Valentine's Day capsule.

Sigh, Dream, Blush and our boxes will no longer hold any secrets for you!

  1. Can we buy the patterns/fabrics separately from the sewing box?

The pyjama sewing boxes offer you the chance to sew Soupir, or the Blush and Songe duo, in Lily viscose jacquards. For the boxes, you can choose between the colours Encre, Rouge Passion, Cumin, and Acajou. You can also order these fabrics separately from the box.

  2. I'm a beginner, are the Soupir pajamas complicated to sew?

The Soupir pajamas are very easy to sew: the blouse has no button placket, no collar, and no cuffs. The pajama pants have an elasticated waistband in the back and a clean belt in the front, and they feature Italian pockets. This is a perfect project for beginners in trouser sewing! The technical points covered are: how to assemble a sleeve, how to assemble a facing on a neckline, how to add a waistband and elastic under a casing, and how to sew Italian pockets. All these steps are detailed in the pattern brochure as well as in the very comprehensive step-by-step video available on our website and our YouTube channel.

  3. Can we consider wearing the Soupir blouse and pants during the day? Is the style suitable for anything other than pajamas?

Yes, of course! Depending on your choice of fabric, you can totally adopt the Soupir blouse for everyday wear. With its pretty V-neck and little ties, it's adorable! And you can wear it with a bra, which will be hidden by the little ties.
Soupir's trousers have a straight cut, they will be a very nice alternative for the summer. Casual without being sloppy, I imagine them in a soft fabric like linen/viscose or very soft and light jeans like our Macadam fabric .

  4. Why offer the Blush camisole and Songe shorts duo in a pouch?

Our customers regularly ask us for a box format, which allows them to have all the supplies necessary to sew their garment. For Valentine's Day, offering a pajama short sewing box is a nice gift idea to give or to treat yourself, and the pretty pattern pouch is part of the Maison Fauve sewing box experience. In addition, this pattern is at the same price as all our pouches, although it actually includes 2 separate patterns: the Blush camisole/nightie, and the pretty Songe shorts ;)

  5. Is the babydoll version of Blush also included in the pouch?

Yes, absolutely, the Blush and Songe duo pocket pattern contains the Blush pattern in camisole format AND nightie format, as well as the Songe shorts.

  6. What fabrics are available in the Soupir and Blush/Dream duo pajama sewing boxes?

Both sewing boxes come in a selection of colors from our Lily viscose jacquard: Ink, Passion Red, Mahogany, and Cumin. It's a 100% viscose jacquard, supple, soft, and very comfortable to wear day and night. It features small, delicate and feminine floral patterns. And we also offer matching sewing thread in the box.

  7. What if I want to mix and match the Lily viscose jacquard with one of the lace pieces like in the pictures?

It's entirely possible, but it won't be a combination offered in the sewing box. Lily viscose jacquards and laces are available individually on our website, in the "Fabric" tab.
The list of supplies for sewing pajamas is available on each product sheet and pattern pocket, but I'm giving you the information here.

If you want to sew the Soupir blouse and trousers separately , the consumption for a 140 cm wide fabric is:

    For the blouse: 34-38: 130 cm, 40-46: 150 cm, 48-52: 180 cm

    For pants: 34-46: 200 cm, 48-52: 270 cm

  8. Can we mix the patterns to make another version of the sewing box (Blush camisole and Soupir pants, or Songe shorts and Soupir blouse)?

Just like with the fabrics, it's not possible to combine the two patterns in the sewing box. However, the pocket patterns for the two pajamas are also available individually; you can order your box and add the second pattern to your cart. We provide the quantities of fabric needed to sew each element of the patterns on the pocket pattern product sheets.
You can therefore multiply the versions and sew a pretty pajama that suits you!

  9. What size should I choose to sew the Soupir pajamas?

If you are between sizes, I recommend ordering the larger size. These are pajamas, so you should feel comfortable in them. The cut is straight but not excessively loose.
In addition, we provide you with the finished garment measurement chart on the pattern product sheet to help you choose the size.

  10. I would like to sew the Botanica lace version of the Soupir blouse, how much yardage do I need? Do I need to line it?

I didn't line any of the garments sewn from this lace. Since this is a pajama top, the slight sagging is not only minimally bothersome, but it's actually part of the garment's charm.
Rather than lining your blouse, I recommend slipping a small Blush camisole underneath. We offer a full range of cotton voile on our site in colors that match the lace.
The fabric length needed to sew the blouse is mentioned on the Soupir pattern product sheet, it varies depending on your grading size.

  11. And how to sew the Songe shorts in Botanica lace?

Lining the shorts will be difficult, and here too the lace openings contribute to the delicacy and charm of this "night" piece. I did not line the shorts visible in the photos, I am wearing panties in tones close to the fabric. On the other hand, I chose to sew the version without a pocket of the shorts (it is a variation provided on the pattern) so as not to have the cut of the pocket bottom visible.

  12. What materials can be used to sew Soupir pajamas?

The Soupir pattern was designed for woven fabrics, not for knit fabrics with stretch.
I recommend soft, flowing fabrics, between 90 and 200 g/m2. The beautiful Lily viscose jacquard is of course perfect for this project, but viscose poplin, cotton voile, viscose twill, pretty satin fabric, silk are also very nice choices! And why not mix a blouse sewn in printed fabric and pants in plain, or vice versa?!
Lace is also a very pretty option, for pajamas that are as precious as they are comfortable.

In Conclusion

With this Valentine's Day capsule collection , Maison Fauve celebrates the elegance and pleasure of hand-sewn creations. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced seamstress, these sewing boxes are an invitation to treat yourself to a moment of creativity and sweetness, for nights as beautiful as your days.
