New free pattern and sewing challenge! Ready to play with Grenadine?
The PDF pattern for the Grenadine skirt is the big surprise that slipped into the latest issue of L'Œil Fauve magazine , but we don't intend to stop there... Here we go for a competition that will last all summer around the most adorable mini skirt.
I discover the free pattern for the Grenadine skirt
The Grenadine mini skirt is a trapeze skirt that is distinguished by a cutout on the front. This little fancy detail not only "signs" the model but also allows you to play on the proportions of the garment by refining the hips and lengthening the silhouette. You can or cannot highlight this cutout with piping , or use it to play with patterns for example. The model grades from 34 to 52 , and it is accompanied by a very detailed step-by-step video to sew the simple version or the lined version of the skirt.
And to discover our special theme on the history of the miniskirt, check out the Mini Mania article from L'Œil Fauve.
Sew the Grenadine mini skirt pattern
We recommend medium-weight, stretchy fabrics like jacquards , gabardine , cotton sateen , but also denim, velvet, cotton canvas, and even lace , as the pattern includes an optional lining (all pieces are available in the PDF files). It will look just as good in plain fabric as in patterned fabrics.
The lengths and the list of supplies are indicated in the brochure, and if you wish to lengthen your pattern, do it from the bottom of your skirt (you must not touch the cutout because a dart passage is created at this point).
Let's play together!
The #defigrenadine contest is taking place on Instagram , and it will consist of sewing your version of our free pattern and posting a pretty photo of your creation.
To play you will need:
-
Like the competition post published on July 16 on the Maison Fauve Instagram account
-
Follow the @maisonfauve account
-
Download the latest issue of L'Œil Fauve to access the pattern files in your customer area
-
Sew the skirt of your dreams (all hacks are allowed as long as you always recognize the original pattern, especially its signature cut, and you can use the fabric of your choice, not just those from Maison Fauve)
-
Take a nice photo of your Grenadine skirt and post it on your Instagram wall (your account must be public otherwise we won't be able to see your creation) and in your story by tagging @maisonfauve and adding #defigrenadine (very important so we can find the participants)
Starting July 31st, we'll be reposting a selection of the prettiest Grenadine skirts in our Stories every Wednesday. These Stories will highlight our favorite versions, and they'll be permanently viewable on our profile in the permanent "Grenadine Challenge" Story.
The contest runs from July 16th to midnight on September 3rd to give you plenty of time to sew and photograph your skirt. You can enter multiple times if you follow the rules for each entry.
You cannot identify other competitions that could possibly take place at the same time as the Maison Fauve competition, otherwise your participation will not be taken into account.
What do we gain?

Ahhh, all the participants already win the lovely free Grenadine pattern and the opportunity to have fun together discovering the seamstresses' creations :)
But we'll have to choose a big winner. It will be the seamstress who presented the "favorite" skirt chosen by the entire Maison Fauve team. We will choose the post whose aesthetic we feel corresponds to the Maison Fauve universe; it won't necessarily be about judging hacks or sewing techniques, but rather the overall aesthetic qualities of the Instagram post. She will win ALL THE PATTERNS from the new "Le Rivage" collection and a €100 voucher valid for all fabrics in the new collection.
The results will be announced on September 5th, and will be posted on the competition post and in the story.
So that all participants can also have the chance to win a gift, 3 participants will be drawn to win 1 pocket pattern of their choice from the 5 new models in the new collection . Whether or not your creations were included in the selection highlighted every Wednesday in our stories does not matter, the draw will be based on the conditions of participation in the competition.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners from September 12, the date our new “Le Rivage” collection goes online.
All the details of the competition can be found in the rules provided with the L'Œil Fauve files.
Good luck to all the seamstresses!!!
