Pietra: the print that sculpts your creations

The mineral depth of the Pietra print

Each Maison Fauve collection has its signature print. For the Avventura, I was looking for a pattern inspired by the Carrara quarries featured in the film The Brutalist. Beyond the violence and shock of these scenes, the shots are grandiose in this mineral, shattered, yet breathtaking universe. But the first-degree "marble" pattern didn't excite me, and above all, I wanted to be able to play with colors.

This is how the Pietra motif was born. As if carved from rock, it reveals all the raw beauty of the mineral: crystalline lines that capture the light, oscillating between abstraction and geometry. It also offers the possibility of playing on the contrast between the plain, regular background and the otherness of the motif.

A fluid and pleasant fabric to wear

With its weight of 115 g/m² and its width of 140 cm, Pietra combines the lightness of viscose with perfect opacity ( It is not necessary to line garments sewn from this fabric). Its soft and supple hand makes it an ideal fabric for sewing comfortable, flowing and feminine pieces.

Made in Portugal and certified Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, this poplin guarantees you uncompromising sewing, both ethical and high-quality.

For which sewing projects should you choose Pietra?

This fabric can be used to sew many patterns from the new collection and the Maison Fauve wardrobe:

Elegant blouses and shirts : Volata, Vittoria or Violette... In fact, all blouses will look stunning in Pietra!
Flowing and dancing dresses : Rosalie, Cuba Libre or Mia will enhance the light drape and depth of the design.
A light skirt or shorts : the Silvana skirt with its pretty cut will be shaken up in its "tailored" spirit in this beautiful print, while the Grand Bain "Swiss army knife" shorts will be boldly reinvented for fall.

Available colors

The Pietra print comes in a palette inspired by Italian landscapes and winter light. The idea is to be able to combine each dominant and very strong color with more muted tones. There is also a color combination designed to match the solids and other fabrics available at Maison Fauve.

Cinnamon : a warm and vibrant note, perfect for livening up your looks. It will look great paired with Moss Green, Iced Brown, or light blue denim.
Cherry Red : Intense and refined, it's eye-catching without being over the top. Very elegant when worn with black, you can also add a touch of color with Khaki dupioni or Tango Red tencel satin.
Plum : deep and sophisticated, ideal for statement pieces. The emerald green and purple duo is a classic; don't hesitate to play with this color range for your outfits, combining it with the Poésie Vert Scarabée jacquard, Plum, or even the new Plum dupion.
Lavender Lemonade : Bright and delicate, it adds an unexpected and poetic touch. Lemonade fabrics (tencel satin, Poésie viscose jacquard) will look lovely combined with this print, and for a look that works every time, denim will be a sure bet, from white to the darkest blue.

Each variation plays on the contrast between background and pattern, leaving you the choice of accentuating sobriety or going for brilliance.

Sewing tips for Pietra

Recommended needles : Microtex 70/10 to respect the fineness of the fiber. Pietra viscose poplin is made using digital printing; it is not the yarn that is dyed but the already woven fabric. To avoid any risk of pulled thread, it is recommended to change your needle with each new project.
Cutting : the print has a direction, so make sure you orient your pieces correctly ("rock" pattern facing up if you want the same result as on our worn visuals).
Finishing : Pietra frays moderately, use overlock or French seams for a flawless finish.
Care : Gentle wash at 30°C in a laundry bag, gentle spin, iron at medium temperature. Do not tumble dry.
