The wind rises in the East at Maison Fauve, carried by the crazy energy of the Ballets Russes. Founded by Diaghilev, the Ballets Russes will be much more than a dance company. The biggest names will collaborate for the scenography, the costumes, and the French artistic scene will be turned upside down by the arrival of Russian artists following the revolution.
The universe of the Ballets Russes will also have an aesthetic that will navigate between orientalism, Ancient Greece, and the Russian Avant Garde. A fascinating cultural and visual gap.
And beyond dance, the arrival of Russian artists , nobles and intellectuals will also have an impact on the world of fashion and couture: richness of embroidery, renewal of the line, geometry of patterns, all these influences will be felt by the contemporary couturiers of the Ballets Russes movement such as Gabrielle Chanel , and will continue its influence with many houses (Yves Saint Laurent of course, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel again, but also in a more subtle way on the desires for prints and color blocks of many designers).
The world of the Ballets Russes, and a certain romantic and probably fantasized vision of the Russia of the Tsars and the Empire ; will have marked my aesthetic choices for the new collection of Maison Fauve patterns. From the rigor of the TSAR coat with twisted double-breasted to the softness of the LUDMILLA knit dress, I invite you this season to a pas de deux at the heart of these rich influences. Throughout the season I will offer you, thanks to L'Oeil Fauve, inspiring works, iconic dancers, creative focuses, mini projects... Like a winter stroll full of curiosity in the collection.
And to host the collection shooting, we had the privilege of being received at the Musée Fabre in Montpellier . A sumptuous setting (and a little intimidating I won't lie to you) that allowed us to travel through the ages, from classical works to ultra-contemporary spaces. What a wonderful playground!
And this session took place as a duo: the beautiful Vanina joined me for a photo session, bringing her smile, her sunny presence and her gentleness...a new face of the Fauve woman, a sublime and communicative energy!
I'll let you discover the look book of the collection now, which includes four patterns: the TSAR coat/trench coat, as beautiful in gabardine as in wool, the MAIA dress/blouse and its sublimely voluminous sleeves, the HUSSARD 1er jean pants by Maison Fauve, which are full of signature details, and the LUDMILLA dress/top, the soft and ultra-feminine knit piece in ribbed jersey.
These new sewing patterns form a comprehensive winter wardrobe with, as always, patterns that will adapt to your desires thanks to the different options offered by the MAIA and LUDMILLA models as well as the possibilities offered by TSAR and HUSSARD depending on the choice of fabrics.
Thanks to Vanina my double on this shooting, and to Laurent Vilarem our photographer who brings his artist's eye to the images. Thanks also to the Fabre Museum for its welcome, to Jérôme TEULE from the filming office for making this day possible, and thanks to Julie my partner who will have watched over us and who every day helps me to grow Maison Fauve.
Thanks also to EDIEGRIM for the magnificent navy wool of the TSAR coat , METERMETER for its perfect denim fabric for HUSSARD, its immaculate fabric with tone-on-tone embroidered details of the MAIA blouse and its very soft nude knit on the LUDMILLA top , and EGLANTINE ET ZOÉ for the pretty emerald and terracotta viscose, and the gold embroidered navy fabric of Vanina and me's dresses and blouse.
Come on, let's get to the images, and may this new collection inspire you to create creations that reflect you!
