Reef inspiration, back to our Indigo Coral print

Good morning!

Here is a sewing project that I was dying to show you: the beautiful Zenith dress sewn in our Corail Indigo viscose poplin .

This print stands out from the Peonies collection by Maison Fauve , and I wanted to tell you the story of this pattern.

I wanted a design that embodies the Carnet de Voyage collection, which combines the architectural inspirations of the moucharabiehs, the soft white/pink tones of the lime-covered walls, and a motif that I love to draw: corals.

Coral brings me back to a world I love, that of curiosity cabinets, where "strange," atypical, unique objects are exhibited. Mine is a jumble of small, second-hand objects, naturalized insects, travel souvenirs, and when I observe it, my mind wanders through space and time... That's what travel is all about!

I reworked the coral in indigo, a strong blue that transports me "elsewhere," from the works of Yves Klein to the outfits of the Tuareg. And if you look closely at the pattern of the fabric, the coral's outlines hide a secret... A stylized moucharabieh pattern... The circle is complete!

Working with and offering our fabrics is a further step for Maison Fauve, and we were supported in this project by a French company, a house renowned for its textile weaving. This company is based in Lyon, and its proximity was essential to me, as much as the quality of its fabrics. Developing our first fabrics with them allowed me to easily communicate, meet the manufacturers, and discover the materials in real life. Our viscose poplins are OEKOTEX Standard 100 certified, which means that the raw materials, the threads, and even the dyes do not contain any harmful products. And I chose a quality that allowed me to sew tops, blouses, dresses, or lightweight pants.

But let's get back to this little dress...
I took advantage of our photoshoot with the talented Charlène Pélut (an issue of L'Oeil Fauve is in the pipeline!!!) to photograph my beloved Zenith . I sewed it in the above-the-elbow sleeve version, and the drape of our viscose poplin is just perfect.

As you can see, there was quite a bit of wind that day hihihi ;)
Working with Charlene was so pleasant, I hope you will love these beautiful images as much as I do.

Have a nice day!
