Place a neckline bias
To properly finish the necklines of your clothes, the sewing patterns offer you different types of finishes, including the installation of a facing, or even the installation of bias binding.
It is this second method that I will describe to you in this mini tutorial. Maison Fauve patterns with this type of finishing are provided with a pattern piece to cut the bias in the same fabric as your garment. And please...cut your bias well ON THE BIAS of the fabric (that is to say at 45° to the straight grain). This is the absolute condition for your bias strip to behave well and not twist.
The method of installation will of course be the same if you decide to use a commercial bias binding, but be careful, on light fabrics you need a bias binding that has the same properties (i.e. no stiff cotton bias binding to edge your neckline if you are sewing a light viscose).
Follow me in this step by step, for a neckline with impeccable finishes!
